Not quite sure what happened to August but our customary September week in Norfolk beckons so this will be a brief Fifty3Fridays. There will be no issue next Friday and F3F will return on 18 Sept. This week we highlight two upcoming shows at The Bedford, Balham plus our Fifty3Fridays Spotify Playlist with all the songs from last month's issues. Meanwhile Fresh On The Net is back from its summer break next week so please log in at the weekend and vote for your Fresh Faves in the first Listening Post of the new term.

It’s less than 3 weeks now to Fifty3’s curated gig at The Bedford, Balham headlined by the marvellous Alex Hall aka City Limits, with fab support from Brighton’s Dear People and South East London’s Mia Wilks. You’ll find full details of the gig HERE plus a preview of the show in our 12 June issue. The show is free but it is wise to book tickets – this guarantees you a seat, though there is always standing room for any walk-ins on the night. If you want to pre-book, better do it now as there are only 13 seats left to reserve. Continuing his upward trajectory, here is a further taster in the shape of the latest single from City Limits, "Nightmares".

While we are in Balham, metaphorically speaking, might I also recommend an upcoming show there on Thursday 1 October featuring Surrey-based troubadour, Andrew Maxwell Morris, with support from Diana Mariè. A third act is yet to be announced but, as it’s The Bedford, you just know they are going to be worth watching! Details so far are HERE. Andrew is currently working on new songs and a new live line-up. For The Bedford show he will be accompanied by cellist Megan Affonso and Mike Boylan on double bass. Here is a reminder of Andrew’s fine songwriting - “Chasing Time” from his excellent self-titled album. For more of Andrew, check out his Track-by-Track feature on the record.
FIFTY3 FRIDAYS SPOTIFY PLAYLIST AUGUST 2026
This brief issue of Fifty3Fridays ends on a customary note. On the first Friday of every month, I publish a Playlist on Spotify which reprises all the songs included in this column over the previous month – in order, should you wish to check! The latest F3F Spotify Playlist features all 28 tracks from our August issues.
You can listen to the Playlist here, or head to Spotify @TonyHardy53, for this one and many, many more of its kindred. Our Fifty3Fridays Spotify Playlist August 2026 opens with a storming “He Reminds Me Of You” from Hollie Rogers and closes with a lovely memory of Dolly Parton R.I.P. in the shape of “I Will Always Love You”.
