FIFTY3 FRIDAYS: LATEST SPOTIFY PLAYLIST

A mini Fifty3 Fridays today as I work on my Glastonbury Festival report which should now be posted in the coming week; a ducks not quite in a row scenario as things stand today. This gives me a mild excuse to highlight a regular feature of this site in the shape of a monthly Fifty3 Fridays Spotify Playlist. The latest one includes all the songs in order from June’s Fifty3 Fridays as long as they are listed on Spotify, of course.

June’s Playlist kicks off with Sweet Billy Pilgrim’s tasty appetiser from the band’s forthcoming new long player, “We Are the Bright Carvers” and closes with the magnificent “My Sad Captains” from Elbow to which I was delighted to sing along live on the Pyramid Stage last Saturday. The only omission this month is Alexei Sayle’s classic “Ullo John! Gotta New Motor?” which is sadly absent from Spotify in its original form and I would not wish to inflict the karaoke remix of the tune, which is available, on anyone.

Here it is. Please feel free to share it! You can also join the legions of followers [Fact check required – Ed] on Spotify at TonyHardy53. You can access past monthly playlists here too. There are lots of them!

A video message from Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky was just played on the big screens at The Other Stage, shortly before The Libertines opened the stage on Friday late morning.

FIFTY3 champions

outstanding new music

through Fifty3 Fridays and

occasional features

Music is a great passion of mine. In my teenage years I was an avid record collector and concert goer. Stints as a booking agent, running folk clubs, promoting gigs and even a crack at artiste management followed. While it never became my main occupation, music was always on my personal radar.

In the past 15 years I have written for leading US music website  Consequence and breakthrough  site, BestNewBands. I am a judge for Glastonbury Festival's Emerging Talent Competition and have reviewed the festival for both sites. I am now pleased to curate my very own music site.

Nothing gives me greater pleasure than unearthing great, original new music and championing independent musicians. You’ll find many of them on this site alongside the occasional legend of times past and I hope they will bring  you as much joy as they give me.
